Requirements / Qualifications Resume EdJoin Application Letters of Recommendation Completion of an Associate of Arts Degree; Or 48 units of course work at college level; Or High School Diploma and the successful completion of a comprehensive exam that assesses the ability to meet NCLB requirements. Candidates who do not meet the 48 unit requirements are required to take the Paraprofessional test. This test can be taken at the District Office or at the San Joaquin County Office of Education. Ed Code 45361.5 requires that all Instructional Assistants demonstrate proficiency in basic reading, writing and mathematical skills.
