Job Description and Duties
Are you looking for a role where your advocacy skills and coordination support a meaningful mission? The Community Awareness, Response, and Engagement (CARE) office is looking for a motivated professional to join our Victims’ Services Unit (VSU). As a Victim Advocate (Analyst II) with the Victim Services Unit (VSU), you will play a critical role in supporting the unit’s mission to serve victims, survivors, and their families. VSU is committed to victim-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive services to all crime victims, including underserved, at-risk, underrepresented, and vulnerable populations for the state of California.
As a Victim Advocate within VSU, your days will be dynamic and diverse. You will serve as primary contact for victims of crime to provide information on their Victim’s Rights and advocacy support during prosecutorial cases, post-conviction, and in the aftermath of a crime. This Victim Advocate role will perform a range of complex and varied analytical tasks related to the efficient functioning of VSU, and to the successful implementation of the Device Protections request enacted through Senate Bill 50 (SB 50). Your responsibilities will bridge the gap between high-level coordination and direct support to victims and stakeholders across the state.
Under the direction of the VSU Supervisor I, the Analyst II must demonstrate a high degree of initiative, professionalism, and discretion in handling sensitive victim services and will be required to work independently and collaboratively with stakeholders.
This Victim Advocate role is an opportunity to grow your career within the Department of Justice while serving the people of California. We offer a collaborative work environment that values independent action, diplomatic communication, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. By joining the CARE team, you will help us advance our mission of engagement and support, ensuring that victims' services are accessible, accurate, and compassionate. Step into a role where your skill set meets a higher purpose—apply today to help us make a difference.
